Your Eyes
Weren't Built
for This.
Screens are unavoidable. The headaches, tired eyes, and restless nights that come with them are not. ELUMA was built for people who live, work, and create through their devices — and refuse to let their eyes pay the price.
Digital Eye Strain Is More Common Than You Think
If you've finished a long day in front of a screen and noticed your eyes feeling heavy and dry — or found yourself lying awake after a late-night scroll session — you've experienced what optometrists call Computer Vision Syndrome. It affects an estimated 50–90% of regular screen users.
The symptoms go beyond sore eyes. Persistent headaches, blurred vision when switching between near and far, neck and shoulder tension, and difficulty falling asleep at night. Most people accept these as the cost of a modern life. They don't have to be.
"Screen time only continues to rise. As a result, most people are experiencing symptoms of digital eye strain — yet they are still not having this conversation with their eye care professional."
— Dr. Michele Andrews, OD · CooperVision
- Tired, heavy eyes by mid-afternoon even after a full night of sleep
- Headaches that begin behind the eyes and build throughout the day
- Blurred or slow-to-focus vision after long screen sessions
- Dry, irritated eyes from significantly reduced blinking while focused
- Difficulty winding down at night — mind active, unable to feel sleepy
- Increased sensitivity to bright light, especially in the evening hours
- Neck and shoulder tension from squinting and leaning toward the screen
Why Blue Light Matters — Especially at Night
Blue light sits in the 380–500nm range of the visible spectrum. It is emitted naturally by the sun, which is part of why daylight keeps us alert. Screens, LED lights, and digital devices emit concentrated blue light — and when that light hits your eyes in the evening, your brain receives a signal to stay awake.
Your body produces melatonin — the hormone that cues sleepiness — in response to reduced light. Blue light delays and suppresses this process. Even after you put the phone down, your body may take considerably longer to enter rest mode. Over time, this creates a persistent pattern of disrupted, lower-quality sleep.
During the day, the concern shifts to strain rather than sleep. Screens demand that your eyes constantly focus, refocus, and process high-contrast light at close range. The high-energy blue wavelengths contribute to visual fatigue — your eyes work harder and tire faster than they would reading a printed page in natural light.
ELUMA lenses are tinted to absorb a portion of this blue light spectrum before it reaches your eyes. Less blue light during the day means less visual fatigue. Less blue light in the evening means your body's natural wind-down rhythm is less interrupted — making it easier to fall asleep at a reasonable hour.
Three Changes.
One Pair of Glasses.
Built in New Zealand.
Built for Real Life.
ELUMA was founded in New Zealand in 2024 by people frustrated with the existing options. Cheap blue light glasses with thick yellow tints that distorted colour and made you look like a caricature. Overpriced alternatives marketed to gamers. Nothing that felt like it belonged in a modern, design-conscious life.
We built something different. Frames with genuine design integrity — frames you'd choose even if they didn't do anything useful. Lenses with a tint so clean you forget it's there. A price that doesn't need justification. No exaggerated claims, no lab-coat marketing. Just glasses that work for the way people actually live.
Every ELUMA order ships free across New Zealand. Allow 7–10 days for delivery. If they are not right for you after 30 days, send them back — no questions, full refund.
